FAQs

  • What is ground Golf?
  • Ground Golf is a form of golf invented in Japan, which can be played by anyone, in any place at any time, on nearly any surface. There is no formal course and instead of holes, the ball is hit into a holepost - a basket-like cage at the base of a moveable post. It's kind of a mix between golf and croquet and the balls are more like the size of a tennis ball, so are much easier to hit and therefore great for all the family. There are 8 holes, distancing between 15 - 50 m and there are no restrictions on time or number of players.

  • How come I've never heard of it before?
  • The game is new to Austalia, besides a small group of folks playing it down in Victoria. However, in Japan, it's a growing sport, with over 3 Million participants in 2024.

  • Is it competitive?
  • It is as competitive as you want it to be! You can keep score or you can just have a knock. The key bit is having fun. BUT, Ground Golf is scheduled to be played at the Summer World Masters Games in Kansai, Japan in 2027, which we might send a team to!

  • Who can't play?
  • This sport is for absolutely anyone. Everyone is invited, no matter your perceived ability. The joy of Ground Golf is that anyone can get involved. It's about having fun, making friends and living an active, fulfilled life.

  • Why isn't this on Facebook or a fancy A.I designed website?
  • This website is all about providing very simple info to connect people in the real world, and importantly you don't need to log in, or have an account to access it. Not sure we need big tech to build community.
